East Norriton Township taxes have risen considerably over the past several years. The Supervisors must work with other county officials and the Norristown School Board, and also among themselves, to keep taxes low, specifically during these times of economic hardship.
Harris and John will not rubberstamp Township budgets and will review line by line all future proposed budgets to eliminate wasteful spending.
Harris and John have pledged not to accept the Township funded health insurance offered to the Board of Supervisors, which will immediately save the Township thousands of dollars per year.
Preserve Open Space
For too long, developers have determined our local land development without regard for the residents, the environment or our quality of life. Supervisors have a responsibility to guard against unplanned and excessive development and sprawl.
Harris and John will take every opportunity to preserve open space and will critically review any future development plans taking into account the views of the residents most directly affected.
Transparency and Respect for Residents
Many residents feel that the current Supervisors do not listen to them as intently as they should and that decisions seem to be predetermined by the Board. Township Supervisors must be willing to listen to all opinions and take the time to carefully analyze and discuss any issues before making quick decisions.
Harris and John will encourage residents to interact with the Board and pledge to treat all residents with the respect that they deserve. They will engage in meaningful dialogue with the residents on all of the issues affecting the Township.
Accountability
East Norriton is a critical part of the Montgomery County tax base, especially the Norristown School District. The Supervisors must work collaboratively with other elected officials and the county bureaucracy to advocate for East Norriton residents and ensure that our tax dollars are not being wasted on initiatives that are not in our best interests.
Harris and John will work proactively with other area officials in order to ensure the accountability of those spending our tax dollars and otherwise making decisions on our behalf.
Einstein Hospital Planned Development at Wood’s Golf Course
The purchase of the Wood’s property and the planned development by Einstein were approved by the current Supervisors before Harris and John had an opportunity to serve on the Board. Now that the Board has approved the Einstein project, it is imperative that the newly elected Supervisors work with Einstein and ensure that development and implementation have the least negative impact on our residents and the environment.
Harris and John will diligently review all Einstein decisions and demand that the developers live up to the promises that they have made to our residents. Harris and John will work with those residents most impacted by the project to make sure that their concerns are addressed.
