John Zurzola

John Zurzola was born in Philadelphia, one of six children raised in a very close family where tradition, fairness, respect for others, and loyalty to country were principles he was taught to live by from a young age.  John’s father is retired from the United States Navy and his mother was a homemaker.

After high school John chose to delay college for a year and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserve, where he served proudly for six years.  With the help of student loans, he worked his way through Temple University in jobs as varied as valet parking, to conducting telephone surveys to working at U-Haul.  The first to graduate from college in his family, John earned a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Political Science with a minor in History.

John began his career at Independence Blue Cross where he worked in the service and implementation of benefit programs to include issues involving Medicare programs, reimbursement and customer issues.  It was in this work that John began to develop a unique understanding and perspective on the issues that are important to working families, children and seniors, and the role that institutions and governments can play to advance society and progress, or conversely, inhibit innovation and creativity.  While working full-time at Blue Cross, John attended school at night and earned a Master of Business Administration, M.B.A. from St. Joseph’s University.

John also earned a law degree from Widener University School of Law and works as a litigation associate at Willig, Williams & Davidson.  While in law school, he volunteered at a clinic assisting the poor in obtaining relief from debt and enforcing child support orders.  He has dedicated his career as an attorney to focusing on issues that affect working families every day, from assisting those in danger of foreclosure to ensuring that women and children are protected from domestic violence.

John is married and lives in East Norriton with his wife of 11 years, Christine, and their two young children, John, III and William.  John’s wide range and unique mix of education, business experience and commitment to justice, all played into his decision to run for Supervisor.  John is committed to upholding the principles of tradition, family and community taught to him long ago.
